Excellent post Willard. It was a wobbly trip down memory lane.
Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, it's a funny idea, but the sheer power of his performance ultimately overwhelms the joke. What a guy.
A fine example of authentic hippie gibberish. Somewhere John Belushi is laughing his ass off.
Ta, I needed a laff tonight, crap day.
thanks willard

"Sixty's"?????
Lord.
hilarious! like ray charles on acid.
One of the all-time gut-wrenching, soul baring performances. Maybe THE most! Doesn't matter if he even uses words in the song, it's great!
Thanks, Willard. bbq
"A fine example of authentic hippie gibberish"
YEAH! So much better than all that fake hippie gibberish we've been getting since people forgot how to tie-dye.
Well, they did say not to take the brown acid…
I put on my headphones and sat down and started to watch this. Unfortunately, I was also drinking a glass of water. At first- no problem- I was just digging the music. Then I started to chuckle. And gag. And then choke. But I couldn't stop laughing. Or swallow. And I couldn't hold it any longer and I spewed water out my mouth AND my nose! All over me and my screen. And I was still laughing! This video is funny. AND dangerous……
Lighten up. Laugh at yourself. Laugh at Joe! Laugh.
Misheard lyrics have been a staple of local radio jocks since the dawn of time, and this is a nice variation on an old theme for the YouTube generation. What surprised me was how, once I'd "got" it, Joe's performance just eclipsed the joke. Back in the day, his performance was appreciated both for its spastic over-the-top grand guignol AND the heartfelt outpouring of soul that caused it. Everybody could (and did) do an impression of Joe after seeing Woodstock. It didn't matter then, and it doesn't now. An extraordinary performer.
(Oh, and internet exhortations to "lighten up" are always welcome. LOL. ROFL.)
Glad you survived to get that important point across. Cocker's Woodstock performance is legenday. We've all heard it a hundred times and it's wonderful, powerful and unmatched. But, breaking down what it sounds like Joe's actually singing is a hoot, and the video makers did a fine job of illustrating the madness. Thanks for all the comments.
I will never listen to Joe Cocker's "With A Little Help From My Friends" normally again. Wonder Bread, Fred Flintstone in leather and Jesus Christ wearing a red turban – those images are forever imprinted in my mind and will bring a inside chuckle whenever I hear this song again!
Oh man…that was beyond hilarious!
Whew! I haven't laughed like that in a long time.
I'd love to get a full screen version of that to keep.
Thanks a lot.
Absolutely hilarious, great job! THANKS!
