FATIMA MANSIONS The Only Solution: Another Revolution (1991)

The Only Solution: Another Revolution (1991)
Rabble Rousing CD Single

Any Fatima Mansion fans out there? To be honest, I’m not really one, either. But I was overtaken by the band’s 1991 single, “Blues For Ceausescu,” and wound up buying up a few things by them last century. In case, like me, you’re the easily persuaded type, here’s the CD single. Click the player below to see if it’s worth your time. Turn it up LOUD, though… and don’t mention my name when the police show up. God, I love living in a democracy. AMG can tell you more while Amazon has it cheap.

Blues For Ceausescu (Only Solution Mix) (5:53)
Blues For Ceausescu (LP Version) (6:20)
Chemical Cosh (Screem Mix) (3:55)
Chemical Cosh (LP Version) (1:41)

It was a mix tape staple for me, so it’s not as ancient as some others are to me (ELP, for instance).

..i got all excited when i first heard ‘Blues For Ceausescu’ – picked up the CD – nothing else was remotely as palatable or interesting. Thought i had the wrong ‘band’ But that is one heck of a one song, so… Thanks (who knows? Maybe you will have provoked another listen, and with the time passed… ?… )

Maybe not. I was planning on posting one of their albums with this but couldn’t be bothered.

Every time I take a bus, a brief soundbite of The Fatima Mansions “Only Losers Take The Bus”, plays in my head. I have two of their albums and they’re pretty good, although I haven’t heard them since 1997.

Thank you for this. Big fan here. I actually saw their first gig. I was a big fan of Cathal Coughlan’s previous band, Microdisney, with Sean O’Hagan (of High Llamas). I’m not sure if I’ve got all these mixes, so I’ll happily download this.

Big fan here too. There are a couple of covers I go back to Long about Now (Scott Walker), and the Scarecrow (Watersons/Traditional) Both quite brilliant. Cathal Coughlans first 3 solo albums should definitely be more widely known too in a post Scott Walker way

Lost In The Former West was an excellent release, and the only Fatima Mansions I could stomach. By the way, I just came across your site, bloody good if I must say. Thanks for all the great tunes….lovin it.
