Stock Audio (2012)
Unreleased Music (kinda) From The Ex-TV Star
Those involved in video production and content licensing know all about “stock audio.” It’s music that has been created (or legally cleared) for use as background music for videos, films, television and various multi-media projects. We hear it all the time but don’t often think much about it. Ex-Television guitarist, Richard Lloyd, has produced a set of stock music himself. It’s not just instrumental background rumblings either, as much of this material comes in the form of structured song composition with vocals. As far as I know, none of this material has ever been on any album and seems to have first been made available in 2012 – though, we have no idea when it was actually recorded. Listen to two examples below, the driving instrumental “We Will Climb” and the Television/Big Star/Twilley-esque, “Want You To Stay.” This is some excellent stuff and requires no video embellishment for your entertainment pleasure. We’ve got a similar project from Eno in the archives called Textures (HERE). We’ve got some Televison, too (HERE). NOTE: This might be the first time this has been “offered,” so act fast… it may not last long. Thanks to all involved.

Thank you! Now I want to make a film to use the music in the background!
…All and any sounds revolving around – Verlaine / Hell / Lloyd – is always VERY much appreciated. Thanks .. ~junko
Wouldn’t you also call this ‘Library Music’ as I’ve seen a whole genre labeled?
Sure. Hopefully it’ll be less noticeable this way.
These sound good. Incredible tone. I’m real fond of the Fire Engine on Where The Pyramid meet the Eye. Thanks!
Oh yeah… forgot about that Lloyd track. Since it’s in the archives (HERE), thanks for the reminder Buzz.
Glad to be of service.
Thank you!
A very tasty, although all too brief recording! Could these tracks possibly be outtakes from prior releases and the collection simply called Stock Audio? The photo appears to be an alternate shot of the one used on ‘Field of Fire.’ Either way, I appreciate your sharing it.
I’ve always liked Lloyd’s playing and sound. Also his work with Lloyd Cole. I enjoy visiting your site too. Hope you’re doing well, Willard. Cheers.
Hi MIles, nice to hear from you. We created the cover and title just to put a face on the tracks. The music, as best we know, first surfaced in 2012 via services that offer this sort of thing. Exactly when they were recorded, however, is unknown to me. They could be his own outtakes or newly recorded, I’m not expert enough on his music to have a clue, but the titles aren’t recognizable to me. Hope things are well in your world.
Apparently Lloyd is living in Minneapolis these days:
