Let’s Move – A Heavy Blues Collection (December 2012)

The latest free CD from the December, 2012 MOJO Magazine is yet another in an unending series of blues/roots collections compiled by the UK mag. This one is loosely arranged to pay tribute to Led Zeppelin’s 2012 live album, Celebration Day. MOJO has done quite a lot of blues compilations, but this one indeed has some unfamiliar material, thanks again Willard!

On first sight I thought, ‘oh, not another one.” But this comp has some good left field choices and is a good listen, like most of them are.

Great Site! I stumbled across this recently, and am hoping to add some of the MOJO comps I’m missing to my collection. I’m having some issues with the DF downloads, I can’t get them to open in iTunes. I joined DF, contacted them, but they tell me I have to take it up with you. :-(
The ZS service works perfectly and easily, but I can’t seem to get the files from DF to open properly. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Your site is so comprehensive, I feel I may have to quit my job to give me more time to explore your site! That would probably be counter-productive, so I’ll have to dole out the time I can spend here. I’m looking forward to many hours spent at Willard’s Wormholes. Thanks!!!

I’m not sure what you mean about not being able to open them in iTunes. You mean you can open the zip but can’t bring the MP3s into iTunes? You can’t open the zip at all? I need specifics to offer any suggestions.

After downloading the file, the MP3s won’t open in iTunes. It shows the zip file but I can’t open it at all. I tried dragging and dropping it into iTunes, no luck. Tried manually to open, no luck. A file called MP-LM-AHBC-12.zip.crdownload shows in my downloads, but I can’t get it to open at all, in any program.

I’m still confused by the phrase “open in iTunes.” I use iTunes, too, but the program doesn’t actually “open” the zip file. You can drag MP3s into it, but not the zipped file itself. You sound like you’re saying that you can download the zip file, but it won’t open. If that’s the case, you just might need a different “extractor” program. Here’s how it should work…

Once the zip file has been downloaded, and appears on your desktop (or downloads folder), it then needs to be opened (or “extracted”). Depending on what kind of software you have, it should happen behind the scenes when you double click on it. I’m Apple, and the “opening” is done by Apple’s Archive Utility once I double click. Once the file is opened (unzipped), then you should have a folder full of MP3s (and a jpeg of the front cover). You should then be able to drag those MP3s into iTunes. That process should work the same regardless of whether it was downloaded from ZS or DF. Once the zip is on your desktop…. they SHOULD open and respond the same way once you double click on them.

I’d be curious to hear exactly what happens with the ZS files that DID open. Does your computer automatically open files for you once they are downloaded? Do you manually double click the zip file and open it yourself, then drag the MP3s into iTunes? What’s THAT process?

The only thing I can suggest is trying a different extractor to open the files. I don’t know if you’re Mac or Windows, but Goggle should give you some ideas on what’s best for your system. Just ask for free programs to open a .zip file, or a .rar file. We used Stuffit Expander for years and it was very reliable (they might be Mac only, but I don’t remember). You DON’T have to pay for anything, because extracting programs are free. If you want to follow up, I’ll give it another shot at understanding what you’re doing. But, Google is always your friend and if you ask correctly, you will surely find someone having the exact same problem.
