Massey Hall (2012)
We Heart Burt
Excellent live set from The Guess Who’s Burton Cummings (and band). Massey Hall is primarily a celebration of The Guess Who’s catalog (with a couple of solo hits tossed it) and finds Cummings in fine vocal form, with a reverent back-up band that delivers the necessary nuance and vocal harmonies. It’s no substitute for the 70s – live albums 35-40 years after the fact rarely are – but long time fans who’ve embraced one of Canada’s finest exports should be more than pleased with this collection. Available at Amazon HERE. Lots more Burt & GW HERE.

This looks awesome Willard. Thanks!
Thanks. A nice slice of memory lane with a master!
Nice…. Thanx!
Also big ups to whomever constitutes BC’s backup band; very compatible. And how about the old man staying on pitch after all these years? Well done!
Yeah… the band’s a highlight.
Williard – did you see that there’s a 1967 (!) Guess Who show on Dime?

Thanks. Don’t even think I’m signed up anymore, though. Never had much luck with torrents, myself.
Wow! I didn’t hear about this one. This is great! Thanks Willard. :)
Just a quick thanks. I live in L.A. I have a horrible commute. I have been listening to this album non-stop to and from work for the last two months. And even at lunchtime, I find myself humming “Running Back To Saskatoon.” A terrific live set. Makes me proud I still own all the Burton/GW vinyl I do.
Cool, thanks for coming back and commenting
