Bonus Tracks (1965-1971)
The Alternate Universe Treatment
Culled from the mid-90s reissue series… with enough stray Byrds to fill a Hitchcock movie. Both Sweetheart Of The Rodeo and (Untitled)/(Unissued) featured a full disc of extras. A disc-and-a-half in Sweetheart‘s case, to gather rehearsal versions of many of Gram Parsons’ lead vocals (which were wiped from the original masters when he left the band). Heads up on Part 1, as it may be a few seconds longer than a CD-R will hold. As a disclaimer, I didn’t do any additional homework on this collection to see if there were any obsolete bonuses from other editions, and didn’t bother with “rarities” from box sets, as this collection was pulled together just using the reissues we’ve had in the archives for years, from the 1965′s Mr. Tambourine Man to 1971′s Farther Along. Find more Byrds & McGuinn (HERE), Gram Parsons (HERE) and D.Crosby (HERE) in the archives.

Willard,
Very nice collection. So great to have all this in one place instead of spread out over all those discs. One of my my faves of all time and Americas strongest answer to the British Invasion of the early-mid sixties. Keep up the incredible work as The Wormhole/For The Love Of Harry has become the best blog on the net! Love this place!!!

These’s are VERY nice. Thanx, Will ~
love these bonustrax-collections, thanx!!
sweet version of 8 miles high!
Thanks Willard. My FAVORITE American band of the sixties!
Bwana makes juju!
By the way, the various “bonus tracks” cover images (Zevon, Ramones, Byrds…) are really good!
What a great, great band. Amazing to think that material of this quality was left on the shelf – name one new band capable of making music of anything like the quality of the Byrds’ “leftovers”. And by new, I mean since 1974, of course.
Amazing! Thx. W
Did any band have so many great voices. Gene Clark, Gram Parsons , David Crosby and Roger . Thank You for all the work you put into this. and other posts. Great great Blog.
Thanks PM
Some surprising gems, considering how deeply the reissues have gone into the Byrds’ vault. Thanks.
