PRINCE “Screw Driver” (2013)

ANDY ALLO “People Pleaser” (2012)
The success of Prince’s protégés has always been hit and miss. This one’s a lock.

ANDY ALLO “People Pleaser” Live On Jimmy Kimmel (2012)
We all decry the high cost of big name concerts, with tickets routinely going for $200-$400. But, I think I’d gladly pay that for a ringside seat to a show like this, with a blast of modern Sly Stone via Prince.

ANDY ALLO “Let’s Get it On” Live (2011)
Earlier Allo, so intimately improvisational, yet so commercially and slickly polished, the execution and professional perfection is easy to admire, like Marvin Gaye’s original. Follow the after-clips for more show vids.

The Allo song is OK if just a bit long winded. And is this Prince’s new back up band? Or is it NPG but he’s trying to throw us off?

He’s working with a 3 piece, apparently called 3rd Eye Girl. Don’t know if they’re also independent from him or not. There are some teaser videos on YouTube featuring them talking. Their Twitter account is where all this new Prince & Friends is coming from – https://twitter.com/3rdeyegirl. As for Allo… a cool groove never lasts long enough.

Love the Andy Allo track, though I think I’d probably like it just as much as an instrumental. The brass sounds great and I love the go-go feel of the chorus. Is that Maceo playing sax (obviously it’s not in the video, but it sounds like him)?
