Once Upon A Time & More (2013)
Here’s To An Upcoming Stand Alone Release
Wow! As I’m listening, this has immediately vaulted to the top of my favorite Family music list. The two disc set of extras from the massive 14CD Family box set, Once Upon A Time, sounds fantastic and provides a great peek behind the scenes of a long static catalog. Thanks to v3122 for the share (and Zed for the heads up). This really is wonderful. If it doesn’t end up being a stand-alone release, Chappo needs his head examined. Need all 14? Head over to Avax, HERE.

Fantastic Willard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much for this rarity!
P.S : Any link for the box set Family – Old Songs New Songs (5CD) released in 2005?
Thank you!
I don’t have one. You’re welcomed to pop a request in C-Box for what it’s worth.
Always been a huge fan of Chappo & the boys — this is honey for da bee!
Follow the link to Avax, the box also has a live CD (which I may go ahead and post here too).
Willard,
Please do, love your site, not a big fan of Avax. Just wanted to thank you again, at the risk of sounding like a broken record!!! Thank You Again.
Love
Newman
Thanks… but, actually I’m not going to, since it’s the same live album as an older release. But, I had no issues there and the poster had plenty of easy options including lossy and flac.
Thanks Willard!!!!!
Willard is this live cd the same material that was released in 2003 on Mystic Records cd MYS
cd 176 Family Live. ?? The songs are the same. Thanks for the rare family cds. Phil
No clue, haven’t had time to get to it yet.
Scratch that.. yes they are the same.
You’ve done your work well, Willard. Despite my sizable knowledge and appreciation of the genre, Family was another of those British blues/rock bands that somehow failed to fully register on my radar. Although I recall having once explored their first two releases, my curiosity never went beyond those. I think it may have been that singer’s voice. Anyway, I’ve been reading your always sage remarks that have accompanied your Family shares of recent past, not to mention finding myself intrigued by everybody’s gushing. as a result, I’ve decided that ‘Once Upon A Time & More’ might just be the right starting place for my coming up to date. That ‘Sat’d'y Barfly’ instrumental backing is pretty sweet. I think maybe hearing these tracks without the voice might be the ticket to my better appreciating the band. Then perhaps later I can learn to appreciate the vocals. Thanks for pointing the way.
Well… that’s one way in. Of course, a lot of this is studio rehearsals and the band working things out on tape, but if it works for you, that’s cool, too. Personally… I’m ALWAYS into hearing a band live in the studio. It’s just something that appeals to me over subpar offerings (that were originally deemed inferior) or mixes that are only minutely different. I love the process, and hearing the interplay and dialog on this one is rich. On the streaming track, I was busy thinking how wonderful it all was (especially the surprisingly good sound), when after the run through someone comes on the talk back to tell the band that it lacked the necessary magic. Maybe technically… but for me, being able to travel through time to hear some faves working inventing what I came to embrace is just a total treat for me. So… don’t be oversold by MY gushing on this one. I’m biased to the setting. Thanks for chiming in.

Looking for Family .- Anthology (2000) too!
Any link please?
Thank you!
Sorry Roch, don’t have that one either.
After that you have the file…delete my post with the link to conserve the link for a long time ;-)
Thank you!
Many thanks Roch. Yeah, Exy’s got a broad readership and a lot of folks in C-Box. Good place for requests. Thanks for sharing it.
