MOJO Presents: Action!
15 Cult Move Classics (2013)
The latest free CD from the April, 2013 MOJO Magazine is a collection of cult film soundtrack music. The tracks aren’t quite as “classic” as the cool cover might suggest, but this is still a good gathering (especially considering the price tag) that dabbles in a little Morricone, Bobby Womack (coincidently I just prepped Across 110th St. for posting) and Curtis Mayfield, alongside some oddities like The Last Poets, David Lynch and Rodriguez. If nothing else, you’ll have a file of Ricky Nelson’s “Lonesome Town” in your collection. You can find 131 more MOJO‘s in the archives (HERE).
JOHN BARRY ORCHESTRA Beat Girl (1:46)
CLINIC If You Could Read Your Mind (2:57)
RODRIGUEZ Crucify Your Mind (2:29)
BOBBY WOMACK If You Don’t Want My Love (Give It Back) (2:27)
CURTIS MAYFIELD Pusherman (4:59)
RICKY NELSON Lonesome Town (2:12)
ENNIO MORRICONE Muchio Selvaggio (2:37)
DANIEL JOHNSTON Some Things Last A Long Time (4:52)
BILLY GREEN Stone Is A Trip (1:53)
BROADCAST Our Darkest Sabbath (3:00)
BRIAN JONESTOWN MASSACRE Super-Sonic (5:11)
THE LAST POETS Wake Up Niggers (2:44)
DON GERE Werewolves On Wheels (5:29)

Amazing!!!!
Thank you!
Thanks for this and all of the other Mojo CDs , much appreciated!
got it. thanks.
Got any clue of the movie each of these comes from?
Not all of them… haven’t got the actual disc yet. “Beat Girl” is from the movie of the same name. Bobby Womack is from Across 110th St. “Pusherman” is Superfly. The Morricone track is from My Name Is Nobody. The David Lynch track is from Eraserhead. “Werewolves On Wheels” is from the movie of the same name. Billy Green’s “Stone Is A Trip” is from an Australian biker movie called Stone. “Lonesome Town” was used in Pulp Fiction and I’m assuming the Rodriguez track is from the soundtrack to Searching For Rodriquez. The more modern stuff I don’t really know (or remember).
Thanks Willard for this mojo cd and all the other great music you share. Saludos.
Well, at least one of my bandmates in The JLA* has finally made it onto a MOJO comp — I’ve offered to record something special for both MOJO and UNCUT before, but got no response. Anyhow, I guess “Some Things Last a Long Time” is used here to represent “The Devil and Daniel Johnston” as it’s not in any other “cult movie” I’m aware of.
I hate to always be the one to bring this up, but so many people call this their fave Daniel song, and Jad Fair actually wrote the lyrics! See this link [http://maryworthandme.blogspot.com/2008/12/message-to-karen-moy.html] for a very odd place to see that info turn up.)

*(Several cuts by Johnston/Lieck/Azarian can be heard at soundcloud.com/kenneth-w-lieck, as can the Beatle-related covers I’m about to mention on the wormhole chat line on the right side of this page…)
Thanks mnw,
Mojo is probably like everything else, it’s who you know. Be persistent. The Beatles covers are pretty enjoyable. Thanks.
