TOM PETTY & THE HEARTBREAKERS Official Live ‘Leg (1977)

Official Live ‘Leg (1977)
Short, But Sweet

A 1-sided, 12-inch live EP, recorded December 12, 1976 in Boston. It’s also known as “The Official Live Bootleg” (which is how it’s titled on the label). I became an early fan of TP when my brother brought me some “punk” records back from England in early ’77, and there was a nifty Petty 12 inch in the bunch. I later caught The Heartbreakers opening for Patti Smith just after “Breakdown” hit big at local radio. It was supposed to be Patti Smith’s triumphant return to a city where she fell off the stage and broke her neck the year before. Unfortunately, the crowd almost totally emptied out after Petty’s electrifying set, leaving only a couple hundred people (out of, maybe, 4 or 5 thousand – a radio station birthday bash) for Smith’s set. So it goes. This material was reissued on vinyl as part of Petty’s expanded Live Anthology.

Jaguar And Thunderbird (2:29)
Fooled Again (I Don’t Like It) (5:50)
Luna (4:27)
Dog On The Run (9:51)
