TOM WAITS Orphans – Vinyl Only Bonus Tracks (2009)

Orphans – Vinyl Only Bonus Tracks (2009)
Because 56 Tracks Just Weren’t Enough

Tom Waits’ 3CD odds & sods compilation, Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards, was unquestionably one of his best releases in almost a decade. It was filled to the brim with vault material that Waits had, inexplicably, left sitting in the can. Pitchfork reported last month that for the December 8th vinyl release of Orphans, the 7LP set would be fattened with six bonus tracks. I don’t have a turntable anymore… or the desire to re-purchase a set of material I’ve already paid for, so I’ll be passing on the vinyl. You might feel the same way. It’s a good way to re-promote a great collection, though, which we’re doing here.

Crazy ‘Bout My Baby (2:03)
Diamond In Your Mind (5:07)
Canon Song (2:56)
Pray (3:02)
No One Can Forgive Me (4:49)
Waits (6:32)

This is great. Thank you, yet again.

I don't suppose anyone has the 5th disc from the Petty live set floating around?

Thanks! Excited to hear these. A selection from Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards probably gets played at least once daily through my headphones.

Awesome! Thanks, Willard. Just yesterday I got my Glitter & Doom 2 LP set in the mail. It's pressed on very high quality vinyl, perfect gift for a vinyl junkie like me…

Another very cool feature of the vinyl set is that it comes with a certificate for a free MP3 download of the music, so I don't have to worry about how I'm going to get the tunes onto my iPod! Tom Waits rocks.

Some of Tom's stuff is a little too far out for even my tastes but it's always interesting. I've never heard an intrepretation of the old standard Little Musgraves/Matt Groves quite like the one here and am certain that I never will again. My favorite here was the Diamonds track. No one can do a ballad like Tom. Thanks for this

Many many thanks for this. But really, you don't have a record player anymore? Time to reconsider, methinks. :)
