CHUCK D Tribb To JB

Tribb To JB (2007)
Chuck D’s Got Ants In His Pants

Righteous tribute to James Brown from Public Enemy’s frontman Chuck D, Kyle Jason & The Banned and the Slamjamz Artist Review. There’s so much JB available, it almost seems pointless to cover any of it. Besides, who on Earth could do it better than James and his superstar sidemen? But Chuck D pulls it off, with just the right mix of live-in-the-studio hard funk, a smattering of rap and some expert sampling & scratch. The few elements that run contrary to JB’s limited focus seem to update the Godfather’s influence, not defile it. JB fans should be pleased.

As I’ve commented before “Thanks for turning me onto great music I was unaware of” This is Amazing !!! I’m not a rap fan with notable exceptions to the early serious innovators, PE being one Grand master flash another, Africa Bambada another plus the real early roots from the as far back as the ’40′s. Thanks again Capt.

Glad you guys dig this. I worked on the album in the slightest capacity (on one song, KING HEROINE) but it’s nice to see the album is still getting around.

    Enjoy!
