SONNY TERRY Whoopin’ The Blues: The Capitol Recordings, 1947-1950 (1995)

Whoopin’ The Blues: The Capitol Recordings, 1947-1950 (1995)
Terry’s First, Post-Broadway Sessions

Rare recordings from the great Sonny Terry, made during four sessions over the course of a three year period. Long time partner Brownie McGhee shows up during the second half, but most of these tracks are sessions recorded under Sonny’s name – made when he landed a contract following his appearance in Broadway’s Finian’s Rainbow. The first sessions feature guitarist, “Sticks” McGhee, Brownie’s younger brother. HERE at Amazon.

A big yes for the Annual Blues Week, & think about Sonny Boy Williamson (the original & Sonny Boy 2, Rice Miller) for the next installment. Keep 'em coming!
