“Night One / Set Two”
“Night Two / Set Two”
Live @ Issue Project Room, 2010
From WFMU’s Free Music Archive comes two live performances from Australia’s The Necks. For the uninitiated, this jazz improv trio specializes in slow-moving, hour-long, sample-like excursions that are near hypnotic in their execution and restraint. The band’s mellow attributes give them a broader appeal beyond the often redundant restrictions of routine minimalism, while still retaining the genre’s core aesthetics. We’ve got The Necks’ must-own debut, Sex, in the archives. Amazon has more of their hour-plus compositions/improvisations, too. (@256)

Thanks again…loved the last Necks stuff.
One treat after another Capn!
Hi
I've been following your blog for some time, never left a message until now. I picked up on your Necks postings last year, burned a CD of Sex and Drive By and played them in my car when I drove to my mother, just an hours drive, exactly the length of their one song album. It was soothing to listing to their driving minimal jazz. She died in december. The next day it bgan to snow.
