Live Frogs Set 2 (2001)
Primus Frontman’s Pink Floyd/Animals Tribute
Bassist Les Claypool keeps his tongue in his cheek so much you’re forced to wonder if the guy who propelled Primus into being (and wrote the theme to South Park) is, indeed, being a bit cheeky tackling Pink Floyd’s Animals. But, considering how faithful this live tribute to one of PF’s more underrated concepts is, it seems like a long way to go just to make a point. Truth be told, the overall project lacks Floyd’s soul, but it’s a decent idea, nonetheless. Check out “Sheep,” below, and hear for yourself. It’s at Amazon, along with the sister CD, Live Frogs Set 1, featuring original material alongside blistering covers of King Crimson’s “Thela Hun Ginjeet” and Floyd’s “Shine On You Crazy Diamond.”

I’ve always loved ‘Animals’ – it was new when I hit 7th grade and I remember hearing all of these songs at one time or another on the radio…
Frog Brigade and Oysterhead were pretty worthwhile bands but I guess I like most all of Claypool’s stuff in small to moderate doses. Thanks, Cap’n!
I dig those Khing Chrimson dudes.
Sounds surprisingly good but do I need it? Thanks anyway, Willard. Cheers! Peace.
Finally had to grab this. I heard it a while back on a local left-of-the-dial station, wondering which PF show they were playing, and then the truth came out. Thanks Cap’n!
