TOM WAITS The Blues According To Tom Waits (1983-2004)

The Blues According To Tom Waits
A Boat Compilation

I originally put this together for a Wait-less pal back in the day and figured I’d resurrect it here for those that might be interested. This set covers Waits: Phase II, 1983-2004 (Swordfishtrombones to his last studio album – at the time – Real Gone), The Blues According To Tom Waits is a working introduction/collection showcasing TW’s grittier, throat-ripping blues concoctions. No ballads or early piano material, just the raw stuff, with too many cool lyrics to count (“Tony Franciosa used to date my ma,” comes to mind). For my money, Waits is never better than when he’s bastardizing the blues. From: Swordfishtrombones, Rain Dogs, Franks Wild Years, Bone Machine, Mule Variations, Hold On EP, & Real Gone.
