Psychedelic Jazz – 16 Smoking Tunes (2007)
Some Of The Psych Your Dad Might Have Been Groovin‘ To Before Realizing He Was Being Sucked Into The Counter-Culture
As a follow up to our 2CD Crime Jazz post, here’s a new collection of psychedelic sounds culled from various artists and others working outside the mainstream. Some of these names are recognizable as jazzers who dangled their toes in the new sounds of the 60s, others are left fielders who dove in head first, showing no fear of the next trend that will quickly date their experiments. Pierre Henry’s “Psyche Rock” sounds like a Bonzo Dog Band concoction. Under $5 at Amazon.
