Five Live Box, Volume One
Amazing Unreleased Live Shows
Five live shows from the great Richard Thompson. All of them sound outstanding, and none have ever been released. There may be a couple of niggling sound issues here and there, but you’ll be pleased with all of these solo, acoustic performances (@320). There are too many highlights to mention, but you can listen to a track from each show to judge the quality. The Greenstreets show is a well-known bootleg called Columbia Gold, and includes the soundcheck version of “I Misunderstood”/”The Killing Jar” (actually taped a week later). We’ve got more RT in the archives, including the refurbished and re-upped Gathered Tracks, Volumes 1-8, and four more Five Live Box Sets.

Thanks for this. All Richard Thompson material is appreciated.
Each time I've seen Richard live I've been blown away. I've never quite warmed up to his voice, but I love his playing and songwriting. Thanks for this!
My favorite rock guitarist acoustic AND electric AND songwriter. And as for his voice – I'm amazed how much it has improved with age. It was weak early in his career, but has mellowed into a fine rich baritone now.
RT's voice was once described by a reviewer as similar to the masked criers of the Middle Ages who roamed villages after the Black Plague calling to "bring out your dead."
Fantastic set of posts. Thanks very much.
These RT posts of yours are great. Thanks, and keep them coming! W.
You bast**d! I'm trying to get rid of stuff not collect more!
I narrowed it down to one of two live shows but couldn't make up my mind so I chose neither and drifted off to the Gathered Tracks post. I WANT ALL SIX OF THEM!
Just when I thought I was out… they pull me back in.
Uh oh. You might want to steer clear this week.
You seem to have gotten 2011 off to a flying start. Very soon your website will be the best around. Thank you for this set – and volume two.
Just listened to the Cat's Cradle show and it's simply one of the best — recording and performance.
Effin' amazing.
I've seen RT many times and this is totally satisfying.
Wish there was a 60s Fairport equivalent.
Thank you so much for the R.T. sets. Especially the '85 and '91 shows.
It's even better to have you back!
Glad I didn't have to write a R.I.P. blog about ya!
Excellent RT posts. I haven’t been around since the Boat days due to 4 surgeries in 2 1/2 years. You still have the touch. I have 2 problems maybe you can help me with. 1) on Five Live Box, Volume One, the West End Cultural Center Winnipeg show disk 2 only has 1 link to MediaFire, no Deposit Files link and the MediaFire kink come up with a message “File Belongs to Suspended Account” (in fact all the MediaFire link get this message). Is there a way to get a Deposit Files link or fix the Mediafire links? 2) Since I have the original 6 Gathered Tracks, though I need 7 & 8, do i need the revamped 1-6? Please post a reply to these issues. You have a superb blog here, please keep up the excellent work.
Tanx

Welcome back. All the links for the live box sets should be OK now. The Gathered Tracks are all the same as they have been. I DID fix a couple of files that had low bit rates, but it’s not worth downloading everything for them, especially since I don’t remember which ones they were. So, all you need is 7 & 8. Many thanks.
I really appreciate the prompt response, Just to let you know, I was at the Chapel Hill NC show in 94, ( I actually worked at the Cradle in 79 for the previous owner). It will be so cool to hear it again.
Tanx again

Cool.
Thanks so much for this embarrassment of riches! There is so much fantastic Thommo here I barely know where to start. I already had Gathered Tracks 1-6 but everything else is new to me, and very welcome. Thanks again.
Anothjer sensational post
You are a gem Capt’n

Hi – excellent post. Sorry to trouble you, but I have a question. I can’t seem to download the front cover of the box. I figured out the download of the back cover, but not the front. Is the front cover available for download? Thanks so much — sorry if it’s a stupid question.
No prob. Sometimes the pics codes get scrambled. Try it now. If the other volumes do the same, let me know.
Hi, thanks for posting the front cover pix. I did quickly check vol. 2, 3, 4 and noticed the same issue. Just wanted to let you know, Thx.
Fixed. Thanks.
Wonderful shows – thank you so much for putting this together and sharing. My favorite performer. Are any of these available in lossless format? Thanks!
Maybe if you search the web. We don’t do lossless around here, though. Thanks.
Wonderful work none-the-less. THANK YOU!
