Live At A&R Recording Studios, July 22, 1971
Live Radio Broadcast w/ Duane & Gregg Allman and King Curtis
What ever happened to this kind of radio programming? An outstanding studio concert broadcast featuring Delaney & Bonnie and Friends, hot off the road with Eric Clapton and George Harrison, live at A&R Recording Studios – this time with friends Duane & Gregg Allman and King Curtis. The show begins acoustically (listen to D&B & Duane on “Come On In My Kitchen,” below) then gets rowdy and electric for the second half. There’s a lot of chatter and the electric portion has some sonic issues, but the historic significance is rich – not to mention the 18 minute “Only You Know And I Know,” featuring smokin‘ leads by King Curtis & Gregg Allman. Speaking of historic significance, it should be remembered that both Clapton & Harrison escaped the restrictions of their respective bands to hit the road with the Bramletts, and Clapton raided D&B’s Friends to form Derek & The Dominos (while the Stones snagged Bobby Keys and Jim Price – who debuted on D&B’s Accept No Substitute). Delaney Bramlett, who passed away in 2008 at 69, also produced and co-wrote one of Clapton’s best albums, 1970′s Eric Clapton. More D&B HERE and HERE.

amazing how many good musicians and music coalesced around D&B – a significant force of the period.

What happened to radio programming like this was, once corporate America corrupted the industry's artistic values, the music and the programming both died many deaths, some fast, some slow (some FM statiosn worked all that commercial crap in over time, say a year or two, while others just slammed their formats overnight in favor of shit that sells).
I have never ever let go of that feeling when I realized it was gone for good, not coming back. And I still miss it.
Delaney Bramlett died, Dr. Bell Otus? I heard something in a conversation once, but didn't follow it up.
Oooops…never mind! I read the write-up with the download link. I didn't realize he was that old.
Thanks for making this session available.
RIP Delaney Bramlett – thanks for all the extraordinary music.
i'm late to find this post but wow, this should be great. Duane Allman and King Curtis. May not get any better…
thanks
Many, many thanks for this from a diehard D&B fan. Still love them to this day. Too bad that only now they are being recognized for their great contributions, and Delaney is gone.

Bonnie Bramlett was a hot piece of ass, back in the day. Smokin’ hot!
Thanks for this Willard! I’ve been reading so much about D&B lately, it’s great to finally get to hear them soon after this D/L’s. Then I may search out more. Thanks again.
Outstanding! Thanks for this find and your other amazingly tasteful selections and postings.
RIP Delaney, one of the most under-appreciated, talented, and soulful musicians of his time. He always seemed to bring the best out of the people he collaborated with — just ask Eric Clapton — to the detriment of his own fame.
Any chance of your posting of D&B&F music from their Copenhagen concerts, filmed by Danish TV, with Clapton and George Harrison, and Dave Mason (I think)?
Again, thanks for your supreme efforts.
Thanks. Don’t have the Copenhagen stuff, though. I’ll keep an eye out.
Willard…You are the Champ!!
I’ve been a fan from way back, when their Delaney & Bonnie & Friends – On Tour With Eric Clapton lp came out. I have 2 live shows I picked up from site called The Clock That Went Backwards Again – you can find it at musictravellerstwo.blogspot.com (use the http:// w/o the www – hope this lets it through). One of the shows is called 1969-12-10 – Far From the Madding Crowd (Falconer Theater Copenhagen, Denmark). The other is called 1969-12-01 – London, England and is from the Royal Albert Hall. It might still be posted on the site or you may be able to request it. Anything you need from me, just ask. Hope this helps
Was just at the site, has TONS of live shows, but when I tried the link, got Our service is currently unavailable in your country. Have left them a message.about this to see if there’s a workaround.
Australia thanks you mon Captain. Many thanks.
Thank you very much from Madrid!
