THE DOORS Perception Bonus Tracks (2006)

Perception Bonus Tracks (2006)
Because You’ve Already Bought The Rest

Here are the remastered and re-released bonus tracks from The Doors’ 2006 Perception box set. There are no complaints with the music, except that some of these tracks were previously issued in The Complete Studio Recordings box set and, later, as a single disc Essential Rarities. The Doors have a bad habit of dripping these out across expensive releases, making it hard to collect them all. Expect another re-re-release in 2014, so get them now before your future counterparts (or you yourself) do. We’ve got a different, final batch of Doors studio bonus tracks posted, HERE.

Sure beats buying or downloading them one or two at a time for 20 years. :) Ironically, there's now an 8-disc "Anthology" [madness!] , which amongst lots of audience tape includes most or all of these, but with a few studio outtakes which are newly-available, I guess. Would you want a share of "Queen of the Highway [Instrumental]", Blues For Lonnie [Instrumental]", Wintertime Love [Alt Vocals Mix], etc.

Thanks for all your new posts. It was pretty quiet here for a year or so. ;)

[Suggested future contenders for this treatment: Dylan's iTunes collection, and the Kinks' new 6CD "Picture Book".]

Yeah… would love the studio stuff. In fact, I went back and looked at Essential Rarities and found there are a couple there that were not included on Perception (Woman Is A Devil, Hyacinth House, Hello I Love You). So, bring them on. I'll look and see what other studio stuff I can find (like the rest of the 1965 Demos) and we'll put them ALL in one place. Since Elektra seems unwilling to. Thanks.

Is that Indian Summer the correct bonus track (the 66 vocal version), or is it the album version that was put on the set by mistake? Drives me nuts when record companies fuck up stuff like this (see also the corrected mixes from The Beatles' Capitol Albums 2….hey, do you have that one?). Thanks!

Dagnabit! I read that they fixed it, but I've never found one that was. Even the digital ones, which you'd think could be easily altered, still carry the album version as the "66 Vocal" version. Bastards!

I'm loving this music here. Is the 66 vocal for Indian Summer around anywhere?

Thanks for putting these back up, Willard.

This is exactly how much bonus Doors I want — there’s a dedicated uber-fan who’s created an 8-CD and a 12-CD bootleg/bonus collection and very generously made it available at various forums for free, but it’s Just. Too. Much.

That’s why they invented “fanatics,” to counter us “sensible fans.”

Some in-depth expert info on the “Indian summer 66 vocal” mistakes and availabilty on this forum page: http://forums.stevehoffman.tv/threads/the-doors-indian-summer-whats-the-deal.250123/

From what it says there, the correct version, with 66 vocal, is on the iTunes version of ‘perception’ box.

That forum pages says the 2:36 version has the correct 66 vocal. Found this on youtube, don’t know enough to tell if is is correct or not:

Thanks George. I wasn’t even aware of all that when we first posted. Appreciate the leg work.
