The Beast Of Yucca Flats (1961)

THE BEAST OF YUCCA FLATS (1961) A classic low low low budget film, concocted somewhere in a bland Californian desert doubling as a Nevada nuclear test site. Includes Tor Johnson, famed for his brain-dead acting in numerous Ed Wood, Jr. films. Like some other 50s/60s crappers, The Beast Of Yucca Flats was filmed on the cheap. In this case, without a sound crew. So everything you hear was badly dubbed in post production, making it almost like a 50s Japanese monster movie. It begins with the much talked about opening shot. A half-naked girl (naked in some prints) gets murdered and then, apparently, necrofiled. The murder is never referenced again throughout the entire movie, but years later the director admitted he just spliced it in because he wanted to include a nude scene. This is actually a pretty watchable print of a justifiably maligned example of truly bad cinema. New Movies, Fridays ‘Round Midnight.
