Dark Poet Live (1992)
Disturbing Unreleased Stand-Up
A legendary, unreleased 1992 Toronto show by the late, great comic, Bill Hicks. Those who know his work should enjoy this show, but even fans will be amazed at how “dark” Hicks is during this performance. The crowd is subdued and Hicks, who’s working with a fever, takes issue with their complacency almost immediately. It kind of goes downhill from there. It’s not a total disaster gig, just one of those performances that’s more confrontational than funny. “I feel like I’m doing this in the Great Northwest, and I’m all alone in a fucking clearing on a tree stump,” Hicks says, punctuating the silence with his own cricket sounds. Raw Hicks.

Long live Bill Hicks!
Toronto audiences are a little more (as in too) respectful at times. Put that together with a guy like Hicks who needed a live breathing audience and this was bound to happen. Can't wait to hear this…
Absolutely great post. I still pull out some Hicks every month or two. Very funny, insightful guy, and I swear I could feel him spinning in his grave over the past 8 years.
"Funny material and laughter will be dubbed in later." Ha.
cool- was just listening to Rant In E Monor yesterday… looking forward to this.
