MOJO Presents: Come On Let’s Go! A Modern Day Jukebox (Compiled By Paul Weller 2012)

Come On Let’s Go! A Modern Day Jukebox – Compiled By Paul Weller (April 2012)

The latest free CD issue from the April, 2012 edition of MOJO Magazine. Apparently, the concept for this disc is simply what The Jam’s Paul Weller is listening to these days. Which didn’t interest me in the slightest… until I heard it. Most of these bands I only know of, having barely heard any of them. But, this is a smart gathering, made up largely of acoustics and harmonies. Very pleasing set. Baxter Dury is the son of Ian, while the Amy Winehouse track comes from a 2007 iTunes live performance. Don’t forget the 119 other MOJO‘s in the archives. Many links are down, but if you need a re-up on any of them, just leave a comment on the post itself and we’ll get right to it.

I love these MOJO comps! Thanks – looks cool. Been a fan of Weller’s for years – interested to hear what is on his iPod.

It’s new-album promotion time. Interview in the Grauniad/Observer yesterday here:

I would not count the Winehouse track as unreleased. I bought that entire show on iTunes. I mention it only because those live versions have, for the most part, become the definitive takes of most of those songs for me.

I don’t know if i want to hear weller singing river man – the thought makes me shudder. I mean I like paul weller, and I love Nick Drake but together.. ? Am I wrong on this ? I don’t want to just dive in and listen – I made that mistake with two girls one cup. I might be scarred for life.
