MOJO PRESENTS Electricity (Sept. 2012)

Electricity (September 2012)

The latest free CD from the September, 2012 edition of MOJO Magazine is a tribute to electronica, entitled Electricity – A Brief History Of Future Sound. I like a few of these bands myself (CAN, Throbbing Gristle) but don’t really listen to this type of music much. It’s why the player hosts what might be the least representative track. Fans of the genre will know if this collection is worthy or not. We’ve just re-upped all the other 124 MOJO‘s in the archives, so collect them all.

FAD GADGET Back To Nature (5:46)
THROBBING GRISTLE Hamburger Lady (4:07)
CAN Oh Yeah (7:20)
PLASTIKMAN Spastick (9:16)
MOBY Honey (3:18)
NITZER EBB Let Your Body Learn (2:48)
ADD N TO (X) Metal Fingers In My Body (5:11)
RENEGADE SOUNDWAVE Probably A Robbery (3:31)
LCD SOUNDSYSTEM Losing My Edge (7:50)
PHOTEK Smoke Rings (6:28)
PAN SONIC Urania (4:32)

The track that jumped out of this for us was “Probably A Robbery.” It’s not particularly “electronic,” though.

There are a few of those that aren’t particularly electronic. Not being a student of the genre, though, I didn’t pay a lot of attention either way. But, that tune was memorable to me, as well.

I’m familiar with the LCD Soundsystem track. Only because I was actually on YouTube listening to an old Sonics song and one of the comments mentioned that LCD SoundSytem brought me here. I clicked on the song on YouTube and it’s seven minutes of the lead singer getting slapped in the face while singing (or more like talking) the song. About 2/3 of the way he mentions The Sonics and repeats it several times. How this music and The Sonics come together is beyond me.

Thanks again Willard. I must admit though that for me too most of these are unfamiliar tracks…

MF seems to have put the kibosh on this one, too!

Seems they’ve gotten about 50 of them. I’ll be working on them. Just leave a comment on the ones you come across that you want and I’ll prioritize those. Just say “This one, too” on future comments. Thanks.
