Very nice. I agree that when he rocks he is great.

Yeah, he made a couple albums as of late that just didn’t cut it for me. I appreciate any artist who is looking for something new and fresh, but when he does this stuff I just melt every time. Simple melodies, perhaps, but in his hands, with his style, I just can’t resist it. Thanks for chiming in.

Willard–You just made my day with this. Yesterday I discovered you had a few Sugar albums I’d known nothing about, & I’m loving those. Now today this new Wormhole with BM. Some of the newer Bob music that I have doesn’t quite pull me in in the same way as Sugar & Husker Du. It’s a little overly confessional, & then I start worrying about Bob’s well being. Don’t need that, as I’ve got problems of my own. But to me it’s all good, & the best is when he throws in that swirling hook thing he does. Thanks for this new one.

I tossed a link in after your comment on the Sugar post. That comment pushed me to post this. Thanks.

Oh yesss! Bob is back. His last single “The Descent” is my “single of the month”! I downloaded the album, but gonna buy it in vynil as soon as it will be released. He really deserves it. Thanks a lot Willard

Didn’t know that was the single. Almost picked it for the player but got sidetracked. Thanks for commenting.

Yeah, there’s even an official video for the single with Bob in suit and tie. A must see. Have a nice day.

So, more time to reply and ask a question….I am relatively new to Bob Mould. I really like Life & Times and this new music. Where does it fall in the pantheon of all things Mould-y? (Thanks for the Sugar)

To me it’s pretty Sugary. But, I was only a casual Husker Du fan, which seemed more aggressive and less poppy to me. A few of his more recent solo albums are less driving and rocking (he even made a semi-electronic album, which I canned immediately). So… others might have a better perspective than mine. My love for him is a question of style and the sound of his voice, which is distinctive to me. Newcomers may compare this simple kind of rock/punk/pop to Green Day, but… Mould’s catalog and lyrical substance offer more heft.
