THE ROLLING STONES Live In England ’65 (2012)

Live In England ’65 (YEAR)
Exactly Why Were All Those Girls Screaming, Anyway?

Disc four from the Charlie Is My Darling box set captures The Rolling Stones touring England in 1965… complete with screaming girls, over-stressed microphones and out-of-tune guitars. It’s a cool document though, even if the sound is only a couple notches up from bootleg quality. But we’re used to that from The Stones. Consisting of old rockers and blues covers and only a couple of Stones hits. The box set is at Amazon. Stones in the archives.

I slightly prefer the Ireland live tracks (on the “soundtrack” disc). It also has some great little vox pops with fans, and a brief interview with ALO complaining about the screaming (as well as a few studio version and a handful of ALOO versions).

The live material is pretty raucous, but they’re all playing great. Not hard to see why they were so popular.
