Missing Family Found…

Thanks for everybody’s help in finding some missing Family Bonus Tracks. Since posting a couple Family albums, we’ve been collecting CD additions to do another one of our Bonus Track Compilations (see ELO (HERE), Spirit (HERE), Doors (HERE), Costello (HERE), Mott The Hoople (HERE) & Nilsson (HERE)). KDNYfm kindly took the time to send us a slew of them, so we’ve got over a couple dozen now (thanks also to Joe, Spike and Zed).

“Hometown” from It’s Only A Movie (2003) or a 2009 twofer
“Today,” “Song For Lots” (live), “Today” (edited version) from Anyway (2006)
“No Mules Fool” and “Good Friend Of Mine” from A Song For Me (2007)

Hey Willard, trying to help, everything at 192, not 320, but if it helps ….

Hometown – I have this from Old Songs, New Songs, runs 3:11

Today – I have this from Anyway , also have it from Best of Family and Old Songs, New Songs
Song for Lots – have it from Anyway, also Best of Family

Today – edited version – yes

No Mules Fool – got this from Best of Family, In Their Own Time, Old Songs New Songs, Bandstand but not from Song for Me

Good Friend of Mine – got this from Best of Family, In Their Own Time, Old Songs New Songs, but not from Song for Me.

If any of this is helpful, drop me a line …

      Hi Spike,
And thanks for the help. If all else fails, 192 will do. But, I’m more concerned about the versions themselves. Hometown, Today and the edited Today from Anyway sound like what were after. But, No Mules Fool and Good Friend Of Mine might be the same versions…. but might not. For instance, they’ve already released a few live versions of No Mules Fool as bonus tracks and they’re all different, and have no clue about this particular one from the A Song For Me reissue. I’m not sure if Good Friend of Mine is supposed to be live or not, either.

To save you some time and trouble, however, let’s see if some 320s surface and I’ll get back with you in a few days so we can get this entire collection up. Many thanks again for the help.

UPDATE: We got a couple in, Spike. If nothing else shows up in a couple of days, I’ll hit you up for the 192’s and we’ll roll. Thanks again.

Thanks Duncan. But, don’t be complicating this with rare promo single rips. We’ll never get anything posted then.

When I got all the family stuff I got all the Mystic cds and they have different bonus tracks than the Castle cds so I’ll be waiting to get my hands on Song For Lots (live) as well as Today (edited). I had all the Castle editions first then got rid of them when i got the Mystics.Just another band I love. There is a lot of interesting stuff on Family and even two box sets Roger Chapman and Friends 4 cds and A five cd box set called Old Songs New Songs. The first has some Chapman live stuff as well as some things live by Sreetwalkers and the second has a bonus cd.They also were on the bbc three(i think) times and Streetwalkers were on there once
I can’t wait for your bonus tracks to get done. Good job as always. By the way my email isn’t working right. Also thanks for the Mott and Spirit comps you did. Phil Winans

Thanks Phil. Yeah, there are a million oddities, rarities and outtakes out there for those guys. We’re just concentrating on the official bonus tracks, because there are so many. KDNYfm sent us the Mystic bonuses and we had a few Castles. The ones listed in this post are the others we know of. But, there might be more hidden away elsewhere. We’ll sort it all out once we get them up and we’ll add any others if they come in. Appreciate the poop.

I got that wrong ! The Roger Chapman & Friends box is also 5 discs with a bonus disc making it a five cd box. That bonus is where the Sreetwalkers stuff I mentioned is. Phil Winans

The Streetwalkers stuff I talked of turns out to be only 2 songs (1) Downtown Flyers and (2) Daddy Rolling Stone live from 1977. They don’t give a venue.Disc 5 (the bonus tracks isn’t listed on the box.I never did see any Streetwalkers bootlegs but as I said there is a BBC rock hour (30 minutes) that has them on it. I have the vinyl transcription disc and converted it to cd. I did see there are several Family downloads/bootlegs. Sail on Phil Winans

Thanks for the info. I thought if there was some Streetwalkers mystery disc out there it might be cool to track it down, but I’m not a fanatic that has to have every little thing that’s been put out. I should probably dig something off the shelf and post it. Appreciate the follow up.

@Zed… Thanks for the links Zed. Our spam detector held up your post because it had more than one link in it, but that’s OK… I was able to get the Anyway Bonus tracks from it, thanks. The Hometown track I’m still struggling with. It looks like you have to be a member of the site, and I don’t speak Russian. Any hints? Regardless, we’re almost there… many thanks again.

UPDATE: Thanks again Zed for the help and tracks.
