VOCOMOTION Dark Side Of The Moon A Cappella (2006)

Dark Side Of The Moon A Cappella (2006)
Who Needs Instruments?

No sense comparing it to the original. Not many albums in the history of rock can be compared to Dark Side Of The Moon. But, fans of the original will surely appreciate this a cappella, instrument-free rendition on some level. The background vocals are pretty cool when they’re morphed into a breathing wall of rhythms, effects and harmonies. The lead vocals, however, kinda just make you pine for the originals. Nothing embarrassing, just lacking the ominous soul, or whatever it was Pink Floyd managed to infuse into their sound. Before you ask, those are vocals, not mechanical drums. We’ll leave it to you to sync it to The Wizard Of Oz (since the ensemble slyly inserted a musical cue from the film into “On The Run,” listen below). Expensive at Amazon (HERE).

Speak To Me/Breathe (3:58)
On The Run (3:41)
Time (7:01)
The Great Gig In The Sky (4:45)
Money (6:24)
Us And Them (7:47)
Any Colour You Like (3:33)
Brain Damage (3:53)
Eclipse (2:07)

It’s making its’ way through the inter-tubes, to my computer, as I type. I’m looking forward to giving this a listen – as a wind-down – as I trundle towards sleep.
If it’s as good as I’m hoping (I love a capella stuff), maybe between this and the The Flaming Lips’ take from a couple years ago I might be able to get into Floyd again!
    Thanks for pointing this out!!!
